Halo for the PC came out today. Or maybe it came out on Tuesday. I originally had it down on my “buy it the day it comes out” list. I loved playing Halo at my friends’ houses (all of two sessions). I don’t have an Xbox and think it would be a bit of a waste to buy one, so when I heard the PC version was coming out, I was looking forward to it.
But I am having second thoughts. I have an old videocard (Geforce 2 GTS, 64MB) and am not sure if Halo will run nicely with it.
My friend already had problems running it on his laptop. So…either I spent $200 on a new videocard (Radeon 9600 Pro) and a copy of Halo, or I don’t buy it at all. But that’s pretty dumb, isn’t it? I could buy an Xbox for that amount of money. But I don’t want to buy an Xbox. I have too much electronic crap as it is.
I think I might have to pass until I hear about how people are making out with the game. This would qualify to be a solid self-working on Bungie’s part, since their accountants were personally counting on my $40 as a definite cash register “cha-ching!” There are few “must have” titles that I want: SOCOM II, Final Fantasy X-2. Uhh, that’s about it.
If you want to hear how I solidly worked myself on a different matter…I rented “Cradle 2 the Grave” on Sunday which was mistake #1. Mistake #2 was not returning it and remembering today. That’s about a $12 rental right there. Nice work!
