stuff

Amazingly, things went fairly well today at work. I’m suspicious of the working around the corner, though.

So…I need your help. I need recommendations for books to read as I have pretty much found the Amazon.com recommendations engine to be not so good these days. I am totally in the mood to read but haven’t seen anything appealing lately.

Favorite books:

  • Ender’s Game, Orson Scott Card (read entire series already)
  • Microserfs, Douglas Coupland
  • Snow Crash, Neal Stephenson
  • Tom Clancy (read all of them though and am tired of re-reading)
  • John Grisham (read all of them though)
  • The Man with the $100,000 Breasts, Michael Konik
  • The CSI series (quick, fun reads, read all of them though)

Note: I refuse to read Dave Eggers. I got to like, the first two pages and I stopped.

Thanks. I’m going to go watch CSI and then go to sleep now.

A Piece of Blue Sky: Scientology, Dianetics and L. Ron Hubbard Exposed (Jon Atack, Russell Miller) - awesome and very creepy!

Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America ( Barbara Ehrenreich) - this writer quits her job (well sorta) and spends a couple months among the low income of America, taking jobs as a house cleaner, waitress, and walmart associate. Easy one nighter read.
