jeetered

Fuck. My refrigerator broke sometime today. I came home and pulled out the fish I had bought the other day to cook it for dinner, and it had spoiled. I tossed it and didn’t think much of the situation until I started going to the fridge for water and noticed that the water wasn’t really cold. The freezer was still busting, but it seems to have given out about 20 minutes ago.

I talked to my landlord and he said that as of two years ago it’s now the tenant’s responsibility to handle fridges. Weak. Then he said he might have an old one lying around that I can use that might work, so I have to wait until 8 tomorrow morning for his maintenance guy to come by.

So, I woke up my neighbors at about 10:30 asking if I could store some shit in their fridge for awhile (save the cheese and the frozen chicken). They’ve been here a lot longer than I have and are generally pissed off at the landlord for constantly raising the rent by its maximum amount every year, so when I told them the story, they said, “Man, ten years ago nobody ever wanted to move in here.” I said, “What?” and they said, “You didn’t know that during the Northridge earthquake, part of the building from your apartment up to the top completely fell off?”

I guess that explains the steel beams that are running throughout this apartment. I don’t know whether to feel safer because it’s been retro-fitted, or jeetered that I might be living in a death trap.

Either way, I need a beer, and the only beer I’m gonna get tonight is warm. Worked.

Wow, you are worked! Spoiled food, a death trap apartment and warm beer? Well, three bad things happened to you so now you are in the clear. Good things are to come your way now. I hope the fridge doesn’t cost too much to replace. If it makes you feel any better my apartment didn’t even come with a fridge. May I suggest Sears?
