Apartment Hunting: Day 2

February 8th, 2005

Today was Apartment Hunting Day #2 with the Regul, covering Santa Monica and Venice. It went okay, although we still didn’t find anything totally suitable. A lot of these joints suffer from Small Bedroom Syndrome, which isn’t going to work for me, as I have to stuff a full size bed, a computer desk, and a dresser in my room. Or Busy Street Syndrome. Or, “Damn, This Place is Wack” Syndrome. Or, “This Would Be a Real Nice Place to Live In, But We’d Have To Eat Ramen Noodles and Canned Ravioli” Syndrome. I hope there’s a compromise in there somewhere.

Funny Moment of the Day: We looked at a place on Centinela that had just been renovated - actually, the two units that were available hadn’t been occupied at all. They were described as identical, but one was cheaper than the other. We asked the rental agent why that was so, and she said that one has less sunlight. Regul, with a straight face, said, “That’s okay. I don’t like the sun.” And we took the keys and left to go look.

Also: Ate lunch at C & O Trattoria in Venice. Excellent Italian food, if you’re ever in the area.

Pretty much all apartments look like this:
