Regul started calling the navigation system in my car Sheila. After thinking about for awhile, I have come to the conclusion that it’s as good a name as any. I have begun saying, “Thank you, Sheila” after I arrive at my destination.
I need some sleep.

I just played a $100 heads up game at UltimateBet by accident and lost. I thought it was $10.
Time to stop drinking and staying up real real late while playing online poker…

I stopped by this Chinese food place on Venice Boulevard on the way home to pick up some dinner. I saw it awhile ago because it’s across the street from a Subway that I go to sometimes, and it looked like a good hamshack to go to.
As it turns out, they used the restaurant in a scene from Rush Hour 2. It’s the part where Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker go to meet Don Cheadle and his Asian wife - the “Chinese soul food” place. They swapped out the signs but they shot both inside and outside. There’s pictures of the owner and Jackie Chan, and the owner and Don Cheadle, and some stills from the movie on the wall. Pretty rad.
Oh, and they make good chow fun, too. I’ll be back. If you want to go check it out, it’s called Canton Kitchen, I think. On Venice Boulevard one block west of Centinela. Take-out only - there’s nowhere to eat there, and they make food to order (unlike the pre-cooked stuff you get at the cheap Chinese joints), so plan accordingly. (And in case you haven’t gotten it: They serve Chinese food, not Chinese soul food.)

I have noticed an increase in the number of black Toyota Prius cars rolling around the Westside. Frickin’ bandwagon jumpers.
What’s going on? Just working, and what not.

I ordered a bunch of crap from them on June 1st and it hasn’t arrived yet. Of course it was books and CDs, and they sent it media mail, which takes forever. It wasn’t clear that they were going to ship it media mail. Bastards. Don’t think I’m gonna order from them ever again.
I had a really good weekend. Friday night I went to Hollywood Park for the first time. Was pretty nervous and didn’t really get to play my game but it was a good learning experience for next time. I also got bugged by a homeless Korean dude who was begging me to go back to the table, cash in a chip, and give it to him for gas money. I was cleaned out by this point and kept telling him I didn’t have any money but he didn’t seem to understand.
Out of all places to find a homeless Asian dude, it has to be a casino, doesn’t it?

So, if you haven’t heard by now….the earth is angry with humanity having produced Van Halen and McDonald’s, and today decided to focus its vengeance on the source.
I was at work when this happened. I was having a conversation with my boss when I suddenly felt some small tremors, and I said, “Weak, I hate earthquakes.” Then the shakes began. I could see the overhead lights swaying back and forth. Somebody at our office exclaimed, “Yeaaahhh!” I had visions of giant cracks opening up in the earth and swallowing us whole, like the Superman movie. But it stopped after five seconds. I sat at my desk doing nothing for a few minutes, and I went outside to have a cigarette.
I hate earthquakes.

The company that I work has announced they will be providing free lunch on Wednesdays. Today was the first day. It wasn’t your typical dot-com pizza, either - it was nice sandwiches & salad from Foodies. That is rad on my company’s part.
Now Cali is getting more exciting every day. Chris is now running the camera 24/7, and there are two cats, not one. I was over there last night and Cali is definitely jealous. Lots of hissing and swiping at the new kitten. The kitten, of course, doesn’t care at all. It makes for exciting cat-webcam-watching. The kind of cat-webcam-watching that you should do. Right now.
Well, kids, how was Vegas?

MSN just launched its Find the Butterfly and Win $100,000 sweepstakes, designed to promote downloads of its MSN search toolbar.
In order to enter, users msut download the MSN search toolbar and then search for “find the butterfly.”
However…you don’t need to download it…just go to MSN.com and search for “find the butterfly.” (Or click the link.)
Worked.

I gave Chris one of my Axis cameras. Should be up 24/7 now.

So around 11:15 I get a text message from PursuitAlert.net that the MJ verdict is about to be read. Soon after that, I start hearing from co-workers about it, and then they all get up and leave. I follow. About 3/4 of the company is jammed up in the main conference room, watching the verdict.
One of the marketing dudes comes by, and we start with the one-liners.
Him: “What’s everyone gathered around here for? Are we gonna find out who’s bad?”
Me: “Huh.”
Him: “Yeah, it’s gonna be a real thriller.”
Me: “Wow, that crowd looks like they really wanna be startin’ something!”
Him: “Yeah, I guess we’ll find out if Billie Jean really was his lover!”
Me: “Yep. This is history!”
I find it hard to believe that he’s not guilty of something. But whatever, I guess. What’s next in the news?
