We’re Sorry, But the Number You Are Trying to Reach Has Been Disconnected
Lately I have been feeling disconnected from literally everyone I know. Like I am on another planet or something.
That’s it for today.

I finally got my new phone up and running. It’s a Motorola v635. They don’t offer it in the United States, so I bought mine off of Ebay. The rest of the world has much cooler phones than us.
Anyway, it took a hell of a long time to set this thing up, upgrade to some firmware of questionable origin, and import my phonebook entries, but it’s finally done. Overall the phone is pretty cool. I’ve got it hooked up to my Prius via Bluetooth, so that when somebody calls, the radio shuts off and the LCD says “Incoming call” and has the phone number of who’s calling. Then you can use the car’s stereo system to talk.
Yay. Time to get my day started now…
FIfty Calamari Phone Book
The Prius got above 50 miles per gallon last night. It was short-lived joy, as I just filled up the tank, and then I puttered over the hill and back to have dinner with the Reasler and the Best Couple. But it broke 50. That’s pretty rad.
Speaking of dinner, we went to this Italian place called Capriccio in Encino. Best calamari fritto I’ve ever had. This joint is a bit expensive but it’s highly worth it.
My new phone arrived but I sent it back. Hopefully I’ll get a replacement by the end of the week.
Finished reading John Grisham’s The Broker this morning. Ehh. I think Grisham has lost his touch.
Temporary
I am in the process of switching web hosts and upgrading to the new version of Movable Type. So the site might look wonky for a bit. Sorry.
Update
I’m back in Los Angeles (well, I’ve been back since Tuesday night).
* Vacation was cool. Caught a bunch o’ fish.
* I hate flying - had a 5 hour delay on the way home.
* New Halo 2 maps are pretty rad.
* I have what should be a (hopefully) cool new cell phone on the way.
* Workin’.
* Tired right now.
Gonna crash for the night.
Where is the Week Going?
This week has flown by so far. It’s really quiet out here and I’ve been basically just chilling out in air-conditioned comfort. I pretty much spent the first two days here sleeping. I think I’m caught up on sleep now.
This is a marginal week for fishing because the weather has looked like this:

Still, we managed to catch a few fish here and there:

Not sure we’re going to be able to go out again after tomorrow due to upcoming lousy weather. Oh well.
Not So Fast There, Buddy (Regul Gets a Quart of Milk)
So I show up at the airport at 5:30 this morning to catch my flight home, only to be told that “the plane is broken.” I waited in line for 3 hours to get a new flight, which leaves tonight. They put me in first class, so I’m okay with that.
Conspiracy theory: Why would an airline experience mechanical failure on the very first flight out of one of the busiest airports in the world, on one of the busiest travel days of the year? I suspect the Department of Homeland Security randomly fucks up flights under the guise of mechanical failure every now and then. To keep them terrorists in line.
A big shout-out goes to Jon Regul, who I woke up twice - once to take me to the airport, and once to take me back. On the way home we stopped at Ralphs and I bought him a quart of milk. Thanks buddy.
I have an Unexpected Free Day now. I’m debating whether I should try to make it a productive one, or start drinking now (it’s 9:15 in the morning). Stay tuned to find out what happens. I know you are on pins and needles on this one.
