Zombie Dream

November 20th, 2005

I finished playing Stubbs the Zombie last Wednesday. That night, I had a dream that zombies were invading Los Angeles. I remember getting into the Prius and driving out of LA. I wasn’t able to find out where anybody else was.

Yup.

Pet Peeve

When you are standing in line to buy something, and the person in front of you doesn’t take out his/her wallet and pull out his money until after the cashier has told them how much their item costs. Then they spend extra time looking around in their wallet for money.

Please, have your money ready and save some time for the rest of us.

Portable Media Expo; Video Game Update

November 12th, 2005

I went to the Portable Media Expo & Podcasting Conference today. Part of it was to look for a case for my iPod, and part of it was seeing if there’s anything interesting going on in the world of podcasting.

It was okay. The seminars were sold out but the exhibition hall was free to get in, so I wandered around there. Aside from the iPod accessories vendors, there were a number of businesses dedicated to advertising and production systems. Good luck with that. I still don’t see the value proposition in trying to make money off of podcasting. But then again, when I first saw Microsoft Windows version 1.1, I said, “This will never work - the command line interface is here to stay.” Yup.

There were no good cases available for the new iPod. Speck had the ToughSkin available for purchase, and it looked like it would work, but I don’t really like how it looks. I really want the Icewear 5G but the Tunewear rep told me that it won’t be available until December now.

So, I bought the Crystal Film Cover from PowerSupport to tide me over until the Icewear comes out. It’s a $15 set of three pieces of clear plastic that you stick onto the iPod. The back and the clickwheel film went on fine but I totally thrashed the front trying to remove the air bubbles. The rep told me if I wanted to clean the film, to use dish detergent, let it dry, and try again. I’m waiting for it to dry now, so we’ll see.

In more important news: I got to 100% completion in Burnout Revenge. I didn’t actually finish every single possible thing in the game, but it says 100%. I’ll take it, because a couple of the races are totally impossible. So maybe I’ll go online and race, but otherwise, I’m done with Burnout. That was fun. Stubbs the Zombie is up next.

Zeroween

November 1st, 2005

I bought three bags of candy last night, turned on the outside light, and plunked my ass down on the couch with a bottle of cheap chardonnay and the TV remote. But no kids came trick or treatin’.
